Omnia interim numbers

24 November 2015

There are also results from chemicals, agriculture and explosives company Omnia this morning. They do not paint the best outlook for the medium term, in light of a deteriorating mining outlook: "The downturn in the mining sector, which started in the last quarter of the 2014 calendar year continues. In the short-term, the situation is expected to remain weak or to deteriorate further and will probably not turn the corner for another few years."

Omnia buying some of managements shares

12 December 2014

Omnia have announced that they are buying back some of managements shares at a price of R210.69. The share price today is around R168 a share, so they are taking advantage of the 30 day VWAP. Management have created a great amount of share holder value over the last couple of years and the SENS announcement stresses this fact but I can't help feeling that management are getting one up on shareholders. It also looks like a clear sign from management that they don't think the share price is going anywhere for the next year!

Annual report review

08 July 2014

Omnia released their annual report for the year to end 2014 yesterday, you can download it and have a read: Omnia Holdings Limited integrated annual report. Not just any read I guess, the quality of our annual reports I find are quite good by global standards. If you needed a refresher of what the group sells and where they make their profits, from a revenue point of view it is pretty well separated into three parts revenue wise, but the profits are more heavily weighted to mining.

Explosive farming

25 June 2014

Omnia reported numbers yesterday morning for the full year to March. Firstly, what is it that this company does? Well, they have been around for a long time, 61 years and are providers of fertilisers, explosives and chemicals to not only local customers, but to around half of the continent we live on, Africa as well as to Brazil and Australasia. Mostly it is mine related activities in Western Africa, ironically only agriculture in Australia, predictably New Zealand and Brazil. South of the equator on our continent Omnia's three businesses are represented from Angola to Tanzania. Omnia's rest of Africa business has been represented for around one quarter of a century.

Revenues blasting ahead

27 November 2013

Omnia, the chemical manufacturing company came out with their 6 month results yesterday. As usual, I like to start with the company structure and operating reigns, so that you can have the big picture of the company when we talk about the smaller details. In their own words, "Omnia is a diversified provider of specialised chemical products and services used in the mining, agricultural and chemical sectors.". The mining sector sells mostly explosives, their agriculture division mostly sells fertiliser and the chemical division mostly sells domestic household chemicals. See below a map showing where they operate.

Omnia. Better. Much better results.

29 June 2011

Omnia released results yesterday morning, this is for the full year to end 31 March, so we just got in here in the nick of time. For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, you have three months from closing your books to reporting results, otherwise you would face being suspended from the exchange. Who are Omnia and what do they do? Decent enough question. From their website: "Omnia is a diversified and specialist chemical services company which provides customised solutions in the chemical, mining and agricultural markets."
