Tesla has 20 billion electric vehicle charging miles to their name and can safely claim they have the most proven charging connector in North America.
On 11 November, Tesla announced that they will be opening their EV connector design to the world. They have requested that manufacturers put the Tesla charging connector and charge port (now called the North American Charging Standard - NACS) on their equipment.
They have also encouraged other charging networks to incorporate NACS on their equipment so that Tesla vehicles can charge at non-Tesla stations too.
This is the equivalent of Apple pushing for a standardised cable and USB port. What a wonderful world that would be.
