Alfred Kelly - Visa CEO

Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Tim Cook, Sundar Pichai. These are CEOs of large businesses, have a huge amount of influence and are all household names these days. Ever heard of Alfred F Kelly? Not many have. He is the CEO and Chairman of Visa, a stock held by 501 Vestact clients. I have decided to give you a bit more information about him.

Kelly became CEO of Visa in December 2016. Since then the share price is up 160%. Not bad for just under four years. Visa now has a market cap of $450bn. Before joining Visa he was president of American Express. He actually first joined the Visa board as a non-exec in 2014 while at American express.

He spent 27 years at American Express. Between 1987 and 2010 he ran various divisions such as the Global Consumer Group, Consumer Card Services, Consumer Travel, Global Travellers Cheques, Prepaid Services and Risk management. He is certainly well rounded in the payments space.

Before joining American Express he worked at the White House as a manager of information systems. His first job was at PepsiCo, where he worked for four years in strategic planning. He holds an MBA from Iona College.

It is quite clear that Kelly is a corporate lifer with a great CV in payments. At 61 years old he still has a few years in him before thinking about passing the baton. Visa is in good hands.

I'll feature a few other lesser known CEOs of Vestact stocks over the coming weeks.
