In the race for cloud domination, the big players have specific niches they like to service. For example AWS (Amazon) naturally has expertise in online retail. AWS has great programs which can track customer behaviours. So if you want to host an online retail site, go with AWS.
Google Cloud has earmarked AI (Artificial intelligence) as their niche. Customers with minimal AI capabilities will find a very useful partner in Google Cloud. They have also targeted open source companies for partnerships. Open Source means that the product is offered for free (just like Google). Google Cloud will partner with these companies through revenue share agreements.
Google Cloud brought in revenues of $9bn last year. That represented 5.5% of Alphabet revenues. They plan on tripling the size of their sales team and increasing their product offering. I personally am very excited about Google Cloud being a big profit driver in the future.
