Amazon - 3rd Party Sellers

Jeff Bezos released his annual shareholders letter yesterday. It is my third favourite annual letter after Berkshire Hathaway and of course Vestact. He started the letter with an interesting trend.



This represents the market share that 3rd party retailers have on Amazon sales. What this means is that small businesses and entrepreneurs have been thriving on the platform. Yes, Jeff has made himself the richest person on the planet but he has also created a platform that has enabled thousands of small businesses to thrive. Not to mention all the people Amazon has employed directly.

I urge you to read the rest of the letter. His energy is contagious. You should also read the 1997 letter which he always posts underneath his annual letter. This was his first message to shareholders and he keeps on posting it to remind readers and himself the original principles that Amazon was built on.
