Google Launches Stadia

Whoa, this is huge from Google. Last night was the official launch of Google's online gaming platform, Stadia. It is well worth spending 3 minutes to watch this video, it gives you an excellent idea of how powerful this new platform will be and how it is going to change the gaming landscape - Google Stadia announced at GDC 2019.

Currently, if you want to play the latest computer game, you need to have a R20 000 gaming computer first. Going forward, to play these top-end games, all you will need is a decent screen and a high-speed internet connection. For many people, their smartphone already has a brilliant screen and if you are on wifi, the internet speeds are good too.

This new system will allow gamers to rent a gaming PC instead of needing to shell out the R20 000 upfront to be able to game. Stadia is making gaming more accessible to people, which will lead to more people playing games - Google Stadia uses a custom AMD chip to offer 10.7 teraflops of cloud gaming power.
