Amazon launches scout robot

Yesterday, Amazon unveiled Scout, a robot slave with six wheels to feed the appetite of the Amazon customer. Scout has a simple mandate; to deliver your packages to your door but only if you're a Prime Member living in Washington's Snohomish County. Sorry Jozi, not today!

According to our friends at The Verge, apparently Amazon's Scout looks almost identical to devices from Starship Technologies, an Estonian startup that was early in the game. However, the spokesperson of Starship Technologies said that they are believers in autonomous delivery robots and happy to be pioneers in the field.

The Scout is battery powered and strolls at a human pace. These Scouts work normal working hours, Monday to Friday and they might demand minimum wage in due course. According to Amazon, these robots will be monitored (side-by-side) by humans to see if they really go where they're sent and how they navigate daily life.

I have an idea, they should do the second pilot of the Scouts here in Jozi. I'm sure no one is going to intercept these packages which are basically unattended.
