Apple Airpods surge

There's been a cult like surge in the fight for fitness space. To a point where annuity like businesses have been popping up all over the place. Take the stationary bike startup Peloton for example. Their edge is that you can enjoy the cycling experience in the comfort of your own home.

I'm sure you're thinking 'isn't this the same idea as SoulCycle?'. Well it seems like there's more than enough space for two here. Here's a little twist though, SoulCycle had three times the customers of Peloton in the start of 2017. However, this week Peloton accelerated ahead of SoulCycle to take the lead.

Here's how Peloton works: You get a stationary bike costing $2 000 for your home, plus a subscription to stream the classes. SoulCycle is the old boring gym model where you have to go to a class full of sweating strangers and you have to listen to life advice from a 20-something instructor.

Peloton has plans to go public. The company was valued at $4 billion in the most recent round of funding. This could be an interesting addition to the nutrition, health and wellness theme, my only concern is that it's concentrated in one sport which could just be a fad?
