Amazon just had their robotic arm patent approved. This is a big deal because this arm can throw things around and catch things inside the Amazon distribution centres.
This new and amazing patent explains how these robotic arms will use sensors and product information, from the inventory system, to calculate the best way to anticipate and grab the item, based on size, and then fling the item to the right place.
We all know that just because they have a patent of this life changing robotic arm, it doesn't mean the technology is imminent. As I write this, there are no robots throwing stuff around in any Amazon distribution centres.
