Tesla has invited all the people that have reservations for the Tesla Model 3 to start pimping their cars for an additional $2 500. The 450 000 individuals that put down the $1 000 deposits in 2016, to reserve their spots for this new and exciting electric sedan, can finally choose their optional extras as Tesla ramps up production. So far Tesla has delivered more than 12 000 Model 3s with a goal of producing 5 000 Model 3s per week which is still yet to be seen.
Currently Elon Musk is rumoured to be crashing under his desk, again, to make sure that the company meets its production targets and to fulfil customer orders within 24 months of the $2 500 configuration process. The third and fourth quarter of the 2018 year are going to be exceptionally important both on the production front and on the cost management front as Tesla is known for over promising and burning cash.
I believe that this is a tough mountain to cross but if someone put a gun to my head and asked me to pick one person on earth to deliver on the this tight deadline, I'd choose Elon Musk twice over!
