Netflix is upping the ante on their main competitor, sleep. They announced over 100 new games in production, with scheduled monthly releases. Currently, fewer than 1% of users play the games. Hopefully more variety will change that.
"Our goal is to develop a broad portfolio of games, in different genres and formats, because we believe everyone can find joy in games if they discover the one (or many!) that is right for them," said Leanne Loombe, Netflix's VP of External Games.
One of the most played games is Too Hot to Handle: Love Is a Game, which is based on the Netflix show of the same name. The game receives a weekly spike in users, coinciding with the release of a new Too Hot to Handle episode. Netflix's niche in that world is pairing up games with their leading show titles.
