The Meta share price has been crushed this year. A lot of that has to do with the huge amounts of money being ploughed into the Metaverse. Zuckerberg is certainly feeling the pressure and has recently assured investors that he has a few tricks up his sleeve.
He seems to believe that Whatsapp and Messenger will be the next big profit driver of the company. They have targeted business chat in particular. In Brazil, they have already introduced a commercial directory and a test payments tool.
It is about time they seriously try to monetise Whatsapp. Maybe if Facebook was less profitable, they would have acted faster to find ways to make money from Whatsapp. Now that the pressure is on, we could see some fireworks from a platform with huge potential.
