Meta just unveiled its latest virtual reality headsets as it makes its way into the world of premium VR devices which are designed for creators and corporates. Their latest device is called the Meta Quest Pro which includes a number of technological improvements from the Oculus Quest 2, which was launched in 2020.
The Quest Pro will set you back a hefty $1 500, or almost three times the price of the Quest 2. This naming and pricing convention is starting to feel a lot like Apple's catalogue. The Quest 2 sold over 15 million units, mostly to gamers. The new Quest Pro is trying to go beyond gaming by targeting the work bro.
The two most interesting updates are "face and eye-tracking", which will humanise avatars so that conversations feel more personal, and the other is "full-colour mixed reality experience", which uses cameras to let people see the world around them augmenting the two realities, like a better version of PokemonGo.
