Prosus Buys Stack Overflow

After selling nearly $15 billion worth of Tencent shares, it hasn't taken Prosus long to make some deals. Last night they announced the purchase of a knowledge sharing platform called Stack Overflow for $1.8 billion. This will be added to their Edtech portfolio. Here are some details from the press release.

"Founded in the US in 2008, Stack Overflow has built a highly-engaged and learning-focused global community of more than 100 million developers and technologists and is one of the 50 most popular websites in the world with over 85% of its learning-focused community visiting the platform every week."

"Stack Overflow's audience is truly global with the US representing 22% of traffic, followed by India, China, UK and Canada. Following the close of the transaction, we will look to leverage Prosus's expertise in growing marketplace communities in high-growth markets around the globe to further expand the Stack Overflow community to emerging developer communities throughout the world."

Basically it is a Q&A website for programmers. Although the release does not give us any financial information about Stack Overflow, the business seems quite established. Sounds good!
