This sounds futuristic but the headline is true. Facebook agrees to acquire brain-computing start-up CTRL-labs. And the company is not coming for free, it will cost between $500 million and $1bn. Remember, $1bn is what they paid for Instagram.
The New York startup specialises in allowing humans to control computers using their brains. This will be done by wearing a wristband which decodes signals from your brain via your spine. These signals are translated into a digital signal which gets sent to the device. It will form part of Facebook Reality Labs, Facebooks more experimental division.
Yes, it is all very futuristic, and I am sure it is in the early stages of development. But look how far we have come, in terms of technology, it has to get to this point at some stage of the development cycle?
