Shopping Paradise in Sydney

Ian Moir and his team at Woolworths have been very good at creating a quality retail experience. It has been their niche and one of the reasons we have liked the stock. Unfortunately, a few things have not gone their way, but behind the scenes they continue to work very hard.

I came across this article titled David Jones' Shoe Heaven raises the bar for retailers, which talks about the first phase of a $400m refurbishment of their heritage listed Elizabeth Street store in Sydney. Here is an extract from the article.

"David Jones is refurbishing all 12 floors of Elizabeth Street, converting four floors used for storage and administration into retail space including bars and cafes, two floors of beauty and luxury accessories, two floors of menswear, three floors of womenswear, a larger food hall, homewares and, perched on the top floor, a Disney World for children."

This first phase will be a floor dedicated to shoes which will have between 80-90 brands and a dedicated sales team. Remember, sometimes it is more about the experience than the shoe!
