Paul Theron

Paul founded Vestact in 2002. A graduate of UCT, he worked in the field of economic policy before becoming an entrepreneur. He launched the first online stock brokerage in South Africa in 1996. He relishes the challenge of trying to outsmart the market, to find the stocks that will be dominant in decades to come.

He's a GJP Superforecaster and also puts out spicy Blunders videos from time to time. He loves living in Johannesburg, but is a keen traveller internationally with his family. He runs every day with the Tyrone Harriers group in Parkview.

Byron Lotter

Byron joined Vestact in 2009 when he was still a student at Wits, studying his undergrad in Law and Economics. After finishing his degree he was lured away from his post grad ambitions by a full time position at Vestact in 2010 and has not looked back since.

He's passionate about investing in companies that enhance human progress, using exciting new innovations. He is also a wildlife enthusiast, conservationist, avid sports fan, a loving father and husband and a very proud South African.

Michael Treherne

Michael joined Vestact in 2013 on a 3-month contract, and never left. He holds an honours in monetary and financial economics, an MBA from GIBS, a diploma in international tax and passed the CFA level 1 exam.

He loves reading extensively, across very broad subjects. When he isn't running after his two daughters, he can be found playing golf or Padel, or catching up on the latest Netflix series.

Bright Khumalo

Bright joined Vestact in December 2015. He obtained his Accounting degree from UCT and was awarded the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation Dell Young Leaders and Wheatfield Estate Foundation Trust scholarships. He previously worked at Nestle.

He features on investment and business programs, both as host and guest. When not at work, you'll find him running or on his mountain bike. He's committed to community development and serves as a mentor to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Howard Mashego

Howard is Mr Fixit at Vestact. He does client FICA documentation, filing, deliveries and DIY around the office. He is currently studying for a diploma in business administration. He has passed modules in business literacy, management accounting and bookkeeping.

He lives with his wife in Diepsloot, in northern Joburg, but also has a home in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.

Mavis Bande

Mavis joined Vestact in 2010, when we moved into new offices in Melrose Arch. Now that we are based in the Firestation in Rosebank she keeps our premises in good condition, welcomes visitors and makes coffee, fruit snacks and lunches.

She comes from KwaZulu-Natal but lives in Soweto. She gets in early and leaves early, to avoid the worst of the Joburg traffic.
