Visa is reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire Pismo, a Brazilian fintech company that offers cloud-based payment and banking platforms. The potential $1 billion deal is expected to be announced this month.
Pismo, co-founded by Daniela Binatti and Ricardo Josuá, helps banks and fintech companies rapidly launch card and payments products . It raised $108 million in funding in 2021, with investors including SoftBank Group, Amazon.com, and Accel.
The acquisition of Pismo would be a significant move in the Brazilian venture ecosystem. Remember too that Visa walked away from a $5.3 billion acquisition of Plaid after antitrust regulators sued to block the transaction.
